Fort Worth police used the stun gun on 34-year-old Jermaine Darden on Thursday because they say he was resisting arrest. Authorities arrested 73-year-old William Felix Vail Friday for the October 1962 killing of his wife, Mary Horton Vail. Calcasieu Parish District Attorney John DeRosier says he intends to seek Felix Vail’s indictment for second-degree murder.

WACO — Baylor University regents have approved a plan to build a $13.6 million track stadium at the Waco campus. The board of regents announced the plans Friday. The new stadium will replace an existing track complex. The Waco Tribune-Herald reported the track and field stadium will be built on the banks of the Brazos River next to a $250 million football stadium that is already under construction.

The Galileo is the shuttle craft that crash-landed on a hostile planet in the 1967 episode “The Galileo Seven.” The Houston Chronicle reports the bit of Trekkie memorabilia was purchased by collector Adam Schneider for $61,000.

AMARILLO (AP) — A federal magistrate has refused to appoint appellate attorneys for an Amarillo mother and daughter convicted in a 1995 murder-for-hire scheme. The Amarillo Globe-News reported Saturday that Chyann Bratcher and her mother, Brenda Robinson Fine, asked for the attorneys so they could pursue claims they had ineffective counsel in their murder trial. They were convicted of murder in 1995.

HOUSTON (AP) — Texas law enforcement agencies have found the body of a missing postal worker in the remains of her burned vehicle in a Houston suburb. U.S. postal carrier Marie Youngblood had used her personal vehicle to deliver mail on her rural route. Investigators found her body in that car late Friday. The San Jacinto Sheriff’s Department and other investigating agencies said they are looking for 37-year-old James Wayne Ham. They said he is considered armed and dangerous and is of interest in Youngblood’s death.

Rancho Mirage, Calif. (AP) — Ken Venturi, who overcame dehydration to win the 1964 U.S. Open and spent 35 years in the booth for CBS Sports, died Friday afternoon. He was 82. His son, Matt Venturi, said he died in a hospital in Rancho Mirage, Calif. Venturi had been hospitalized the last two months for a spinal infection, pneumonia, and then an intestinal infection that he could no longer fight. Venturi died 12 days after he was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame.
