Dallas triathlete top contender at Buffalo Springs
As recently as 10 years ago, Lauren Barnett had never heard of triathlon.
She was a self-described tomboy, though, took part in swimming, field hockey and lacrosse and, by college age, was running at least 45 minutes most days. She’d always wanted to try a marathon, but feared her knees couldn’t take the pounding for that distance.
Then in the summer of 2007, after she’d graduated from Missouri, one of her friends suggested a sprint-distance triathlon.
