Good discipleship should not be confused with good membership, Bishop D. Max Whitfield told regional United Methodists during his state of the church sermon Thursday afternoon.
Whitfield, who serves as bishop of the Northwest Texas and New Mexico United Methodist Church conferences, spoke during the Northwest Texas annual conference, in Lubbock’s First United Methodist Church until Saturday.
About 550 people registered for the conference, which serves about 200 United Methodist churches in Lubbock, Amarillo, Abilene and other northern Panhandle towns.
