When Aarun Carter won the National Oldtime Fiddlers' Contest last week in Weiser, Idaho, it provided one of the most amazing experiences for her mother, Denice Carter.
Aarun won the contest in the Young Adult Division.
These are the top fiddle players in the country, said Denice.
"It's a very competitive contest," said Denice, who has participated both as a contestant and a judge in previous years.
Aarun and her family have attended the contest for 18 years.
But the former South Plains College student has had previous experiences in winning contests.
