At Acacia Mobile Home Park in North Lubbock, a pile of charred debris lay in the green grass where an abandoned mobile home used to sit.
Resident Marion Bowden, 76, said the city placed a condemned sticker on the property about a year ago, warning people of the structure’s unsafe conditions.
“People would come and go,” Bowden said, “but the owner, I don’t know. We could never get a hold of ’em.”
On Tuesday morning, he said, the property collapsed in flames as fire crews battled the blaze for 25 minutes.
