Meat judging team maintains win streak

Texas Tech’s meat judging team extended its victory string to five competitions last week, taking first place at the American Royal Meat Judging Contest Oct. 16 in Omaha.

The team placed three members in the top six individual scores and bested second-place Colorado State University by 21 points.

Jerra McMath, of Estancia, N.M., was second, while Dakotah Williams of Glenrose was fourth and Drew Cashman of New Windsor, Md., was sixth. As a team, the Red Raiders placed first in beef judging and overall beef, and finished second in beef grading and reasons.

Two contests are scheduled Oct. 30 in Plainview and the International Nov. 13 in Dakota City, Neb.
