As I travel throughout the United States, I have the privilege to meet and talk with many people. Some are engineers, scientists, economists, corporate leaders, and politicians. Others are airport bus drivers, security guards, waiters, clergy, physicians, and the owners and managers of hotels and restaurants. They are Democrats and Republicans. They or their ancestors have immigrated to the United States seeking the freedom to work and raise their families without being harassed, robbed, or even killed by their government.

"The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed -- and thus clamorous to be led to safety -- by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary." --H. L. Mencken (1920)

Each year on the eleventh day of the eleventh month, we remember the service and the sacrifices of our veterans. These men and women have stood between us and war's desolation. They have defended freedom and liberated untold millions. Our veterans liberated Europe and Asia from the crushing forces of Fascism. They held back the expansion of Communism in Asia giving nations such as the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Japan, and others time to become prosperous and armed. They guarded Europe 24/7/365 giving Europe the longest time without war in its history.

One of our readers and bloggers raised some excellent questions on energy production. His questions and comments appear under "Crises Without End: Part II."In directing his comments at me, he actually nailed the Liberal stance on energy, "shortsighted, inaccurate, and deliberately misleading." Unfortunately for our economy, our national security, and our cost of living, both of our major political parties buy into much of this.

I wish "A Liberal Lubbockian" and her fellow bloggers well. It is my hope that she and I can debate difficult issues by directing our energies at facts, issues, and ideologies and not at each other or our supporters. Mutual friends have told me that she is a nice person with a lot of spunk.

Why do Fascist Islamic Terrorists, Communists, Socialists, and the Liberal Elite oppose freedom? Why do they hate and persistently attack the United States? What is the common thread that joins them? They desire to control the lives of others, and they despise freedom based on ownership and personal responsibility. They believe that all power must begin and end with them. The United States remains the greatest obstacle to their dreams of World dominance.
