PLAINVIEW — Two men were arrested Thursday on felony charges following a drug raid at an apartment complex not far from Plainview High School, which is a drug-free zone.
Ricky Leon Gomez, 23, was charged with possession of more than 4 grams of a controlled substance, and David Jose Gonzalez, 24, was charged with possession of a controlled substance under 1 gram.
Shortly before noon, officers entered an apartment in the 1500 block of Yonkers Street and found plastic bags of crystal methamphetamine, $1,141 in cash and other drug equipment, said Capt. Manuel Balderas.
The apartment was within 1,000 feet of the high school.
Balderas said there was a total of 7.1 grams of meth in the apartment — Gomez had 6.6 grams and Gonzalez had 0.5 grams — which added up to $700 in street value.
The men were being held Friday at the Hale County Jail.
For the first-degree felony, Gomez has a $25,000 bond, while Gonzalez has a $10,000 bond for the third-degree felony.
