Reuters reports the Department of Energy won’t stop supporting renewable energy projects despite the bankruptcy of solar firm Solyndra, which got $535 million in federal loan guarantees. DOE has $10 billion in guarantees for green projects to issue by the end of September. If the Solyndra experience is any indicator, green energy may be an unaffordable goal.

$ at Iraq and Afghanistan. What are our goals in those two countries and are they achievable?
"unaffordable goal"?
I agree with Rettch about Iraq and Afghanistan. Once we knew that Afghanistan was the training ground for Al Qaeda, I realize that we had no choice but to go in and wipe that out. However, the Iraq invasion from the beginning was just plain wrong. It appeared to me to be a "created opportunity" to take over oil fields and to create a "war president" who would be re-elected (not "changing horses in the middle of a stream" concept). Instead of cheering as our troops executed the "Shock and Awe" orders, I cried -- literally. I kept thinking, "My country does not invade a country that did not attack us."
As for green energy's being unaffordable -- they are affordable...the problem lies in the fact that corporate profits cannot be maximized as they can with "ownable" resources. You can't own wind, sun, water (hydroelectric); you can own only the equipment to capture that energy.

Now we have Obama spending all that money in Libya and even though he promised it would never happen has put American boots on the ground in Libya. It may only be a few, but that is how Vietnam got started.
I wonder if Obama was thinking about a created opportunity to get re-elected. I have never heard Obama give a good reason for ordering American Forces to attack Libya.
The money being spent on the Libya campaign would sure be put to better use in my opinion.
That, too, Americanfirst.
It seems to me that the U. S. has become far to quick to enter into wars -- not "conflicts" -- wars.
