Stadium Renovations
From Nov.
1947 to present, Jones SBC Stadium has been renovated several
times, usually seating expansions and facilities improvements.
From an engineering point-of-view, the largest and most complex
renovation occurred before the 1960 season, when a $2 million
expansion project added 14,500 seats to the stadium, raising
the total from 27,000 to 41,500. During that project, contractors
used railroad tracks and long steel rollers to move the the
east-side seven seating sections, an estimated 10 million
pounds of concrete and steel.
