Local firefighters and medical officials are having a special luncheon today for young burn victims they are helping to send to Camp Amistad.
The luncheon will be held between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. at Station 7, 202 Slide Road. Campers and their families will get to see a demonstration of the fire department’s Aerial Truck and a performance by The Hub Performing Arts School.
The Lubbock Fire Department and University Medical Center are sponsoring the special camp for UMC burn patients between ages 6 and 16.
The Lubbock Firefighter’s Auxiliary raised $4,000 to help send the children to camp.
