SAN ANTONIO — A member of the white supremacist Aryan Brotherhood of Texas prison gang has pleaded guilty to charges that he helped torture and kill a Pleasanton man.

The San Antonio Express-News reports 29-year-old Michael Dewayne "Bucky" Smith of Houston pleaded guilty in federal court Wednesday to murder and conspiracy in the racketeering-related death of Mark Davis Byrd Sr. A fellow gang member, 42-year-old Jim Flint "Q-Ball" McIntyre of Houston pleaded guilty to the same charges in February.

The gang captain, 38-year-old Frank Lavelle "Thumper" Urbish Jr. of Beaumont, awaits trial in San Antonio federal court.

Court documents show Byrd allegedly stole drugs that he was to deliver to a customer.

Smith, McIntyre and, if convicted, Urbish could all be sentenced to life in prison.
