Peanut board balloting starts Monday

Mail-in balloting will start Monday to fill four directors’ seats on the Texas Peanut Producers Board. Three of those seats are in regions that include South Plains counties.

One seat is open in Voting Region 1, which includes Andrews, Bailey, Dawson, Gaines, Hale, Hockley, Lamb, Lubbock, Lynn, Terry and Yoakum counties.

Two seats are open in Voting Region 2, which includes Crosby, Dickens, Floyd, Garza and Scurry counties. Ballots are available from Texas Agrilife Extension Service offices and peanut buying locations in the counties where elections are being conducted.

Ballots must be postmarked no later than Jan. 23 and mailed to TPPB, 4205 N. I-27, Lubbock, TX 79403. To be eligible to vote, a person must either now be a peanut producer, or have done so in at least one production period in the previous three years, and must reside in a county in which the election is being held.
