Texas Tech linebacker Cqulin Hubert has been kicked off the team for a violation of team rules, Tech spokesman Blayne Beal said Saturday.
Hubert, a 6-foot-1, 237-pound junior, was dismissed Thursday, Beal said. He would not elaborate on the nature of the violation.
Hubert was the Red Raiders' sixth-leading tackler in 2011 with 38 stops, including 5 1/2 tackles for loss. He also had a sack, an interception, a pass breakup and a caused fumble.
Tech coach Tommy Tuberville said earlier this month that Hubert showed some pass-rush potential on blitzes, so coaches had just started to experiment with him as a defensive end in the last week.
At the end of the 2010 season, Hubert was in on a career-high 13 tackles in a TicketCity Bowl victory over Northwestern, which seemed to set the stage for a promising career. However, he was only a part-time regular last season, making six starts, and was suspended from the season finale against Baylor.

Since he was suspended for the Baylor game & still on the team for spring training looks as tho coach had given him a 2nd chance or was on probation if you know what I mean. Guess he screwed that up too. There are consequences for bad decisions and I certainly respect Coach Tuberville for enforcing his rules so much better than a couple of other down state Big 12 coaches who are very slack on their teams. His being gone awhile may hurt our team, but hopefully it helps the kid more in the long run. He needs to learn to be more responsible. So many kids today including non-athletes feel an "entitlement" to good things in life instead of actually going out and working their behinds off and giving certain things up in order to achieve them. America is still good and the "lite on the side of the hill" but life has definitely changed this past decade or so.
Team Rules
What are the team rules? I'd just like to what the violations can be, especially since the team doesn't live in an athletic dorm where curfews, drinking etc., would be monitored?
At least Adam James didn't have to live in a TTU dorm . . .
@troyissacs
"When are they going to quit bringing Houston's trash to Lubbock so they can rob and murder our citizens on a free ride scholarship...."
This is now easily THE stupidest thing I have ever read. EVER. Congratulations.
I live in Houston. A significant portion of Texas Tech students live in Houston. BOOSTERS LIVE IN HOUSTON. Comments like the above are just another reason why it's hard for Tech to be taken seriously down here. Every single thug comes from Houston? The DFW area is full of angels? Really??? Where are you from Troy Issacs that is so great that you feel the self-righteous need to post these wonderful glimpses of insight that you bestow that no one else possesses?
Was Jacob Karam "Houston Trash", how about Danny Amendola? I guess Brent Mitcham is next? Trent Williams, James Polk, LaAdrian Waddle, Tyson Williams, all these guys should just go transfer then huh?
Do your homework before you type crap.
@RedRaider07
Please excuse posters like troyissacs and posters like him have no sense of fair play and embarrass we fans that are concerned about both the football and basketball programs. This forum is not the place for name calling especially since we all take pride in the talent in Texas and would like to see more recruiting in in the state.
TTU fans are frustrated and ready for change or winning programs in both football and basketball, but insulting an area like Houston is the worst type of stereotyping and very counterproductive.
I hope troyissacs apologizes to us all for his crude post, but I sincerely doubt he has that much class.
houston man
troyissacs is probably a A&M coach whose recruiting area is Houston.
he's out to hurt Tech's chances down there.
@troyisaacs
People like you are what make Lubbock look bad. What an idiotic comment to make...
Disciplanry action, team rules
I would still like to find the team rules as I have searched the web with no success. I know disciplinary actions have affected both the FB and BB programs, and I don't want player specifics, just an overview of what team rules are, how they can be broken.
Thanks!
