Herminia Martinez, supervisor of the Rawlings Community Center, described what makes Cinco de Mayo special in the Lubbock community. The center hosted a variety of contests for the community, including a Selena look-alike challenge, a best Chihuahua dog contest and a tamale cooking competition Saturday afternoon at 40th Street and Avenue B.
