Mom's letter: Gillispie verbally abused son often

Posted: September 21, 2012 - 12:00pm

LUBBOCK, Texas — The mother of a teenager at Billy Gillispie's camp this summer claims in a letter to a top school administrator that the former Texas Tech coach repeatedly verbally abused her son.

The woman wrote that other coaches at the camp told her son that Gillispie "likes to pick someone and try to `break them' for some reason," according to a letter to Texas Tech's chancellor obtained Friday by The Associated Press through an open records request.

The mother's name is redacted in the Aug. 20 letter to Kent Hance.

Gillispie resigned from Texas Tech on Thursday, citing health concerns after being hospitalized twice in the past month.

He did not immediately return a message seeking comment.

Gillispie, 52, stepped down amid allegations he mistreated players on his team.

pampered and spoiled athletes

So the kid is going to be a HS senior and either Mom is sitting at basketball camp all day or Senior-to-be is going home and telling Mom he was picked on. Either scenario explains the real problem.

WHATEVER

WHATEVER THE METHODS THE COACH USES/USED PRODUCED ONE SINGLE CONFERENCE WIN LAST SEASON.

So the Mom wrote a letter to Kent Hance.....

I assume she asked Hance why he chose to cheat our football coach and his family out of earned pay, earned bonus, and severance pay in accordance with the terms and conditions of the employment agreement.

Or why Hance conspired for months with Scovell, White, Anders, Turner, and Sowell; to cheat the coach and his family.

Or why Hance selected a lawyer to defend Tech who represents terrorist enemies of the United States for free.

What other subjects would you cover with Hance?

@ facts

I thought your therapy was helping but relapses do happen. Just curious....what did hance have to do with BCG abusing players?

Middle

It sounds like Hance might be in the middle of this too. Why would he release that letter? Spaeth must have taken a while to think this one up.

Then what does hance have to

Then what does hance have to do with BCG practicing over the allowed times repeatedly after he was formally warned by holcutt earlier this year with zero tolerance?

Is any coach at tech responsible for their actions or is everything just blamed on the chancellor?

@bill214

Who says BCG did that, Hance and his cronies? At least you are doing your job and defending Hance.

@ feaco or frank

I could care less about hance. I care about Texas tech unlike you. I don't defend hance but I do defend my school.

So you believe in conspiracy theories? That makes sense for you. How have your michael moore movies working out for you. Let's talk about watergate, or JFK and the grassy knoll. Do you also believe in superstitions frank? Do you still wear your pirate outfit during leach games?

The reason I suggested BCG practiced over his allotted times are THAT'S WHAT THE REPORT OF VIOLATIONS SAYS that he was given
