Can anyone stop Baylor? Is Kansas ready to step up after last year’s Sweet 16 finish? Will Texas Tech see another 5- or 6-game losing streak? ——— The A-J presents its forecast of how things
should shake out this season.
1. Baylor
40-0. Brittney Griner. Does anything else really need to be said?
2. West Virginia
The Mountaineers lost only one player from last year’s team, returning their top 10 scorers.
3. Oklahoma
If the Sooners can keep winning tight games, they can finish even higher.
4. Kansas
Angel Goodrich should lead the Jayhawks to another tournament, and perhaps another Sweet 16 run.
5. Iowa State
Chelsea Poppens has the best year outside of anyone named Brittney for a competitive Cyclone squad.
6. Texas
Karen Aston will get the Longhorns back on top, but it might take a year or two.
7. Oklahoma State
Last year’s WNIT Championship run gives the Cowgirls a push for the big dance.
8. Texas Tech
Newcomer Jackie Patterson gives Tech the jolt it needs to wipe the slate clean from last year.
9. Kansas State
Brittany Chambers can’t do it all herself as the Wildcats rebuild.
10. TCU
The Frogs will compete, but they won’t win a lot in the best conference in the nation.
