Lady Raider guard Minta Spears will miss the remainder of the season with a torn anterior crucial ligament, Texas Tech announced Tuesday.

Spears, a true freshman from Bullard, went down with the injury with just under two minutes left in Tech’s 61-49 win against Arizona State on Sunday in Tempe, Ariz.

The freshman, who scored two points in nine minutes Sunday, went down near midcourt after getting tangled with Sun Devil Promise Amukamara.

Spears stayed down on the court for about 30 seconds before being carried off by the Tech training staff.

Spears, a three-star recruit according to ESPN’s HoopGurlz recruiting website, was a Parade All-American in her senior year at Bullard. She holds the Panthers’ all-time scoring (2,879), 3-pointers made (375) rebounding (475) and assists (776) records.

She also logged 16 minutes in Tech’s 77-62 exhibition win against Midwestern State, scoring four points.

Spears is the second Lady Raider guard to go down with a season-ending injury this year. Freshman Ivonne Cook-Taylor tore her ACL in October before the season started.
