Santa Monica (Calif.) College offensive lineman Dontae Levingston signed with Texas Tech on Dec. 18, but after discovering some of his credits won’t transfer to the university, he is planning to sign elsewhere next week.

“I’m not transferring to Texas Tech anymore,” Levingston said Wednesday. “I didn’t get into the school.”

Levingston initially signed with SMU out of Harbor City (Calif.) Narbonne High School before transferring to Santa Monica College. The 6-foot-5, 280-pound guard was expected to factor into the rotation for the Red Raiders in 2014.

Now it looks like Levingston might wind up playing against the Red Raiders.

“(I’ll) most likely (sign with) Kansas,” Levingston said.

To boost the offensive line, Tech is expecting letters of intent from Belton’s Justin Murphy (6-6, 275), Round Rock’s Robert Castaneda (6-4, 315) and Riverside (Calif.) City College’s Dominique Robertson (6-5, 300).

The national signing period starts Wednesday.

Well....

Shoot! If he were really special, then the boys in the back room should have ensured those credits would transfer.

Oh, I forgot, this is college and not pro-football......my bad.

No Big Deal

We have so many O-lineman you can't get into the locker room. What we need is D-lineman! Maybe this will make room for another on the defensive side of the ball.

Union

I have not seen it on the AJ, but there are several stories out there that college athletes are close to forming a union. Wow, isn't that going to mess things up even more for recruiting. You will have to talk to their union rep.

Needs O-line

Tech needs offensive lineman almost as much as they need defensive lineman. It is a big need. One of the returning starters on the O-line was just kicked off the team.

Kansas

This kid is going to Kansas probably. It is also the secret to why K-state does so well in recruiting JUCO transfers... they can't get in elsewhere.

Following recruiting

can be a very frustrating experience. It's amazing how things change from day to day and it's never a done deal until the players are sitting in their first class. Even then it's not a sure thing.
