Texas Tech confirmed that sophomore guard Dusty Hannahs asked for a release on Monday. Tech will grant his release to any school outside the Big 12.

His departure will open up a scholarship for someone else.

Hannahs finished the season with the highest free throw percentage in program history at 92.3 percent.

After starting for most of the nonconference schedule, Hannahs embraced the role of Sixth Man and averaged 7.7 points per game on the season and increased to 8.6 per contest in Big 12 play.

On Jan. 22 at West Virginia, Hannahs scored a career-high 25 points while setting a Big 12 and school record netting 7-of-7 from behind the arc.

As a freshman, Hannahs averaged 6.9 points and shot .374 percent from deep.

A true student athlete, Hannahs was named Academic All-Big 12 the previous three semesters.

Why??

Wonder why? This transfer stuff is kinda getting old! Must be the haboobs or whatever the heck they call dust storms now.

Change

I would assume that Hannah did not necessarily agree with the new coaching staff. However, if he was unhappy here, he certainly made the correct decision. I wish him the best of luck and success except if he should play against us.

Look at the bright side. This leaves more room under the salary cap for Tech to go hire more players.

Dusty Hannahs

Coaches should have persuaded him to remain at Texas Tech.

Look forward

Well, if this is final, I say let's get excited about the possibilities of who Tubby might replace him with. I'll put my request in for another big man. Never can have enough. I know we recently received commitments from two 6'9" guys but give me another 6'10" to 7' center. I liked Hannahs, it just seemed other teams were able to keep him from getting his shot off.
