Texas Tech golfers Federico Zucchetti and Wes Artac qualified for the U.S. Amateur Championship last week at the Rawls Course.
Zucchetti shot 136 and Artac 137 over two rounds and took the top two spots in a 60-player field. The U.S. Amateur is scheduled for Aug. 15-21 at Oakland Hills Country Club in Bloomfield Hills, Mich.
The winner of the U.S. Amateur earns automatic berths into the 2017 Masters and U.S. Open.
Former Nebraska golfer Andrew Wyatt and Wayland Baptist NAIA all-American Ian Ansett earned the U.S. Am alternate spots out of the Rawls Course qualifier.
Wyatt, a Midland resident, won the Men’s West Texas Amateur on July 17 at the Rawls Course.
Zucchetti and Artac were key members of Tech’s 15th-straight NCAA Regional team in May.
