Texas Tech junior flanker Darrin Moore is expected to play Saturday against Kansas State, Tech coach Tommy Tuberville said.
Moore suffered knee and ankle injuries against Nevada on Sept. 24 and missed most of that game as well as the last two weeks.
He practice last week and was in uniform Saturday but didn't play. Tuberville said he wanted to use Moore in goal line situations but no opportunities arose.
He was replaced at flanker by Alex Torres, who caught eight passes for 111 yards and a touchdown. Because Torres was so productive at the position, Tuberville said he won’t go back to Moore if he isn’t 100 percent at gametime.
“I’m not going to put somebody in there that’s three-quarters speed when you’ve got a guy like Alex Torres that can catch the ball,” Tuberville said. “I’m not going to do that. The ball’s in his court. If he can come out and show that he can go and beat somebody out that caught, what, 10 or 12 passes, we’re going to be a better team. But we’re not going to make a change just to say he’s coming back.”
