Texas Tech released its spring roster Thursday. The key developments:
■ Defensive tackle Michael Starts, linebacker Daniel Cobb and safety Chris Yeakey aren’t listed. Cobb graduated at mid-term, a Tech spokesman said, and left the program with a year of eligibility remaining.
Yeakey said near the end of last season he wanted to petition for a sixth year because he’d lost two seasons to injuries. He made five tackles in 11 games, mostly playing on special teams.
Tech coach Kliff Kingsbury said as recently as Tuesday that Starts’ future with the team remained unresolved, though he hasn’t been listed on the team’s roster for several weeks.
Kingsbury has declined to discuss the circumstances.
The 6-4, 303-pound Starts was one of the team’s most heralded signees in 2012. He played one game last season, then was sidelined the rest of the year with high blood pressure, according to former coach Tommy Tuberville.
■ Sophomore Branden Jackson and redshirt freshman Chase Robison, defensive ends to this point in their careers, are listed as linebackers.
■ Sophomore Cameron Wright, a backup tight end last season, is listed as a defensive lineman. So is senior Chris Knighton, who had spent his entire career on the defensive line until he was switched to fullback last year.
