Texas Tech coach Kliff Kingsbury said freshman defensive lineman Noah Jones remains on the team, but the February signee’s future beyond that appears unclear. Speculation surfaced last week that Jones had left the team.
“Noah’s still on the team currently,” Kingsbury said Monday. “He’s not practicing. He’s focusing on academics.”
As for whether Jones will return, Kingsbury said, “I don’t know exactly how that’s going to play out, but we’re going to visit about that as soon as our season’s is over.”
Jones, 6-foot-3 and 250 pounds, was an all-state and two-time district player of the year in high school at Moore (Okla.) Southmoore.
Another February defensive line signee, Ivory Jackson from Amarillo, left the team last week.
