The Philadelphia 76ers selected Joel Embiid with the third pick of the NBA Draft.
He will be paired with Nerlens Noel in the front court as NBA Rookie of the Year Michael Carter-Williams will run the offense from the point.
Last season at Kansas, Embiid averaged 11.2 points and 8.1 boards per game while blocking 72 shots.
The 7-footer's shot blocking ability is not limited to inside the lane.
Instead, he can block shots well outside the paint.
On the offensive end, his footwork is pristine. Embiid can also turn over both shoulders and finish down low.
His history of injury has been a concern leading up to the draft, especially after he recently broke the navicular bone in his right foot. Embiid underwent surgery and will be out four to six months.
