Three Lady Raiders leave team (Krista Pirtle's Blog)

Texas Tech confirmed that former Lady Raider basketball players Marina Lizarazu, Diamond Lockhart and Jasmine Caston asked for releases.

Tech will grant their releases to any school outside the Big 12.

Freshman point guard Lizarazu started 21 of 30 games for Tech and showcased her behind-the-back handle while averaging five points per contest.

Lockhart, another freshman point guard, started 11 of 30 games. She averaged 4.3 points in 17.4 minutes per contest. Lockhart shot 30.5 percent from the floor while recording only 39 assists on the season.

Freshman guard Jasmine Caston started only one game for the Lady Raiders. She averaged five points per game while shooting 33.7 percent from the perimeter.

At point guard, JUCO transfer Ryann Bowser will compete with sophomore Minta Spears for time.

Spears can also play the shooting guard position, as well as fellow sophomore Ivonne CookTaylor along with JUCO transfer Tatiana Grant.

With the signing of six players over 6-feet tall and the return of senior Kelsi Baker, senior Amber Battle can take the start at the small forward position.

This team had two @ 6'5" who couldn't rebound OR score. So what if she has recruited 6 over 6' if they are at the same talent level as the 2 over 6-5. Tall and no talent isn't worth much.
