Marxism Remains a Most Effective and Deadly Political Tool

"The whole gospel of Karl Marx can be summed up in a single sentence: Hate the man who is better off than you are.  Never under any circumstances admit that his success may be due to his own efforts, to the productive contribution he has made to the whole community. Always attribute his success to the exploitation, the cheating, the more or less open robbery of others. Never
under any circumstances admit that your own failure may be owing to your own weakness, or that the failure of anyone else may be due to his own defects - his laziness, incompetence, improvidence, or stupidity."

The above has a very uncomfortable familiarity.  It was written by American economist and philosopher Henry Hazlitt.  Hazlitt understood Socialism and its evil foundations.

As we read, “Hate the man who is better off than you are.  Never under any circumstances admit that his success may be due to his own efforts,” our thoughts turn toward Barack Obama.  Obama’s Presidential campaign is focused on creating envy and hatred for those who have worked hard, sacrificed much, and have achieved middle class incomes of $200,000 or more.

Saul Alinsky said of his book Rules for Radicals,

The Prince was written by Machiavelli for the Haves on how to hold power. Rules for Radicals is written for the Have-Nots on how to take it away.”

Alinsky is considered the founder of the modern Community Organizing movement.  Alinsky offered Miss Hillary Rodham a job before she became Mrs. Bill Clinton.  Alinsky’s successors gave young Barack Obama a job working as a community organizer in Chicago.

The Presidential Campaign of President Barack Obama is centered on blaming the current financial problems of the United States on “the rich,” “the millionaires,” and “the billionaires.”  According to Barack Obama, those with the highest incomes are not yet paying “their fair share” in taxes.  Obama does not mention that the proposed Obama tax increases will also adversely impact the tax burdens almost all of the middle class.

“You Didn’t Build This” is the most famous statement of President Barack Obama’s Presidency.  Obama claims the government gets credit for all successes and is therefore entitled to confiscate as much money as Washington politicians want from citizens and corporations alike because the government really owns everything.

Dr. Walter E. Williams has written a column, “Liberals, Progressives and Socialists,” that needs to be read by all the American people.  Dr. Williams puts the two parts of Socialism, Marxism and Fascism, in perspective and proper context for the better understanding and appreciation of where Barack Obama and the Progressive Left are taking us.  The column is very worthwhile reading, will become a classic for its effectiveness, and appears below in its entirety,

In Europe, especially in Germany, hoisting a swastika-emblazoned Nazi flag is a crime. For decades after World War II, people have hunted down and sought punishment for Nazi murderers, who were responsible for the deaths of more than 20 million people.

Here's my question: Why are the horrors of Nazism so well-known and widely condemned but not those of socialism and communism? What goes untaught -- and possibly is covered up -- is that socialist and communist ideas have produced the greatest evil in mankind's history. You say, "Williams, what in the world are you talking about? Socialists, communists and their fellow travelers, such as the Wall Street occupiers supported by our president, care about the little guy in his struggle for a fair shake! They're trying to promote social justice." Let's look at some of the history of socialism and communism.

What's not appreciated is that Nazism is a form of socialism. In fact, the term Nazi stands for the National Socialist German Workers' Party. The unspeakable acts of Adolf Hitler's Nazis pale in comparison to the horrors committed by the communists in the former Union of Soviet Socialist Republics and the People's Republic of China. Between 1917 and 1987, Vladimir Lenin, Josef Stalin and their successors murdered and were otherwise responsible for the deaths of 62 million of their own people. Between 1949 and 1987, China's communists, led by Mao Zedong and his successors, murdered and were otherwise responsible for the deaths of 76 million Chinese. The most authoritative tally of history's most murderous regimes is documented on University of Hawaii Professor Rudolph J. Rummel's website here, and in his book "Death by Government."

How much hunting down and punishment have there been for these communist murderers? To the contrary, it's acceptable both in Europe and in the U.S. to hoist and march under the former USSR's red flag emblazoned with a hammer and sickle. Mao Zedong has long been admired by academics and leftists across our country, as they often marched around singing the praises of Mao and waving his little red book, "Quotations From Chairman Mao Tse-tung." President Barack Obama's communications director, Anita Dunn, in her June 2009 commencement address to St. Andrews Episcopal High School at Washington National Cathedral, said Mao was one of her heroes.

Whether it's the academic community, the media elite, stalwarts of the Democratic Party or organizations such as the NAACP, the National Council of La Raza, Green for All, the Sierra Club and the Children's Defense Fund, there is a great tolerance for the ideas of socialism -- a system that has caused more deaths and human misery than all other systems combined.

Today's leftists, socialists and progressives would bristle at the suggestion that their agenda differs little from those of Nazi, Soviet and Maoist mass murderers. One does not have to be in favor of death camps or wars of conquest to be a tyrant. The only requirement is that one has to believe in the primacy of the state over individual rights.

The unspeakable horrors of Nazism didn't happen overnight. They were simply the end result of a long evolution of ideas leading to consolidation of power in central government in the quest for "social justice." It was decent but misguided earlier generations of Germans -- who would have cringed at the thought of genocide -- who created the Trojan horse for Hitler's ascendancy. Today's Americans are similarly accepting the massive consolidation of power in Washington in the name of social justice.

If you don't believe it, just ask yourself: Which way are we headed tiny steps at a time -- toward greater liberty or toward more government control over our lives?

Perhaps we think that we are better human beings than the German people who created the conditions that brought Hitler to power. I say, don't count on it.

We are reminded why the Progressive Left has used the courts to remove the Ten Commandments from schools, court houses, and other public places where the unsuspecting might see the Ten Commandments and read them.  It would be very confusing for people to read “You shall not steal” and “You shall not covet . . . anything that belongs to your neighbor” and then hear Obama tell them they should demand that their government steal money from industrious and hard working men and women and give it to them and others who have not earned it.

Socialists create hatred for those who are successful and productive.  The Socialists get political support and power by taking from those who are hated and by doing financial and other harm to them whenever possible.  The supporters of the Socialists actually get more satisfaction and enjoyment from knowing that the achievers have been harmed than from receiving their money.

None of the money or property of the Jews killed by Hitler or of the many people killed by Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Castro, and Pol Pot went to the people.  The money and property went to the governments and the Socialist Elite rulers.  A full one third of the money used to finance Germany’s World War II expenses was taken from the Jews of Europe.

Obama does not promise to give the money taken from the “rich” directly to his supporters.  It is implied by Obama that the people will financially benefit from money taken from the “rich” by the government and then spent by Obama.  For the present, Obama is promising free health insurance (not free health care), education through college, extended unemployment income, increased welfare benefits, and eventually forcing the “rich” to pay for everyone’s Social Security and Medicare.

The most visible person in the United States of America who is not doing his job is Barack Obama.  The only significant thing Barack Obama has built during his time as President has been our National Debt.

Since becoming President, Obama has spent the vast majority of his time campaigning, raising money for his own reelection, playing golf, hosting extravagant parties and dinners at taxpayer expense, and vacationing.  All of this self-indulgence and extravagance has cost the American taxpayers tens of millions of dollars.

If Obama really wants everyone to pay their fair share, Obama should pay taxes on all the unnecessary expenses that Obama travel, partying, and other extravagances have added to our National Debt.

It is time to stop Barack Obama’s political dreams with the 2012 General Election.  We must not let Obama’s dreams become our national nightmare.  Either the United States of America or Barack Obama will survive the 06 November 2012 General Election – both cannot.

"a national leader that demonizes"

“It is intentional because this is who the president is. The president is a Marxist because he believes in the separation of classes. We have never heard a president in the United States of America speak as he is. And when you have a national leader — you look throughout history — when you have a national leader that demonizes a certain segment of the society and attacks them, it has never ended up well. Yet, that is what we have. He is a socialist because he believes in nationalizing production.”

Where shall we start?

"If Obama really wants everyone to pay their fair share, Obama should pay taxes on all the unnecessary expenses that Obama travel, partying, and other extravagances have added to our National Debt."

So, why don't you give us an exact accounting, supported by links, as to that exact amount of those "unnecessary" expenses instead of blowing smoke?

Should RIck Perry pay taxes on all of the money he spent with Texas taxpayer dollars for his security in his FAILED presidential run?

Why aren't you demanding that Mitt Romney release his Federal Tax returns, so that we can see if his "business interest" could have created negative impressions with our allies. Start with Romney's "Italian Job" What is Romney hiding?

Is there a central point in your blog today? You ramble off in many different directions and simply come back with your usual hate Obama rhetoric.

You still are remiss in telling us about how the Romney-Ryan "plans": will return our country to prosperity. You need to do so in detail, But, I guess, like the rest of us, we are as much in the dark as you are on those details. The word from the Romney-Ryan handlers is "don't discuss any details."

Another day and another messy blog, May....

Wow, you must really be feeling insecure to call out the troops for your quotes. Allen West? Wasn't he the dude in Florida who was complaining how much it cost him to fill up his Hummer?

Since you didn't bother to read the responses from your cartoon post of yesterday, let me share with you mine:

Wow! You didn't tell us we needed popcorn for that little cartoon. If in your photo you were wearing a "pork pie" hat you would look just like the character who "saves" our country from the evil medicine of ISM.

I found it very interesting that farm subsidy Socialism did not come up. Farm subsidies began in 1933.

As to the purpose of this film:

"Cold War propaganda: “Make Mine Freedom,” 1948 Designed to promote democracy versus communism, and free enterprise (capitalism) over communism’s totalitarian governments then in vogue in the Eastern Bloc, this film was targeted to young college students who did not have the opportunity to fight for freedom in World War II. “Make Mine Freedom” was produced by Harding College in 1948, preserved by the Prelinger Archives.

Is it a bit heavy handed? Is this an accurate portrait of economic or political freedom? Are the characters in this animated short movie quite stereotyped?

In Blogylvania, the movie has been seized on as a sort of parable for our times. Those bloggers who say it is a parable see a lot more in the movie than I do. Almost any Lewis Hine photograph of child labor should be a good rebuttal. Some say it seemed far-fetched in 1948 (then why did anyone bother to make it?). It’s much, much more far-fetched now.

It’s a good departure point for discussions about propaganda in the Cold War.

Harding College resides in Searcy, Arkansas, and is affiliated with the Church of Christ. It is now Harding University." http://timpanogos.wordpress.com/2011/10/10/cold-war-propaganda-make-mine-freedom-1948/

Well, the "Cold War" is over. And this film has been revived as relevant in today's world by the ex-cons.

Don't you ever get tired of saying the same unprovable rhetoric over and over and over, and having is shoved back in your face every day?

I guess you believe if you tell the same lies over and over and over, eventually people will come to believe them. It didn't work in the homeland of your ancestors. But, the majority of Americans are aware of the tactic.

Stick to promoting Romney-Ryan so you can be part of their resounding defeat in November. Your smokescreen BS is just that, no one in your limited "reading" exposure is supporting your blog--except the imaginary ones who don't bother to make any comments.........

"The greatest threat facing America today"

"The greatest threat facing America today is the disastrous fiscal policies of our own government, marked by shameless deficit spending and Federal Reserve currency devaluation. It is this one-two punch -- Congress spending more than it can tax or borrow, and the Fed printing money to make up the difference -- that threatens to impoverish us by further destroying the value of our dollars."

correction

Let's redo some of this for accuracy. We'll start with the title:

"Donald May Remains A Politically Ineffective Tool"

....and that first paragraph could use a little work, too:

"The whole gospel of Donald May can be summed up in a single sentence: Hate Barack Obama. Never admit that he was legally elected by a clear majority of legally registered voters without Supreme Court intervention. Never admit that I, Donald May, couldn't even get 3% of the vote in my own district. Never admit that this failure on my part could only be due to my obvious unsuitability as a candidate. Most of all, never admit that this failure should tell any intelligent person that I have no clue what I'm talking about, no ideas of any substance to contribute, and no real function in life except that of a parrot masquerading as a peacock."

There. Now it has at least some truth in it.

"stupid" on the campaign trail

Republican Senate Nominee: Victims Of ‘Legitimate Rape’ Don’t Get Pregnant

Rep. Todd Akin, the Republican nominee for Senate in Missouri who is running against Sen. Claire McCaskill, justified his opposition to abortion rights even in case of rape with a claim that victims of “legitimate rape” have unnamed biological defenses that prevent pregnancy.

“First of all, from what I understand from doctors (pregnancy from rape) is really rare,” Akin told KTVI-TV in an interview posted Sunday. “If it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down.”

Akin said that even in the worst-case scenario — when the supposed natural protections against unwanted pregnancy fail — abortion should still not be a legal option for the rape victim.

"Legitimate rape"? Care to define that for us, Todd?

It looks as though the people of Missouri are not just having an election this year-- they're taking an IQ test.

May Quoting Sowell

“I have never understood why it is “greed” to want to keep the money you’ve earned but not greed to want to take somebody else’s money.” Thomas Sowell

No one is questioning the money someone has earned honestly from the sweat of their brow. HOWEVER, we should definitely look at farm subsidies, capital gains, and other forms of income that did not give anything back to society, but took away from it.

Socialist Minds

Socialism has been given a free throw in American minds because of people like John Dewey. Dewey was instrumental in the foundation of the NEA. He also wrote an americanized version of the Communist Manifesto, called the Humanist Manifesto. He helped introduce socialism step by step into the American culture through the development of government schools . The atrocities of Stalin are never taught in the government schools. Hitler and the Nazis are certainly given plenty of airtime, but they leave "Uncle Joe" alone. Dewey was a regular visitor to the Kremlin in the pre WW2 era. He and his other socialist friends understood the sacred cow of education. Nobody want's to criticise their activities for fear of being ridiculed. Now that the NEA has imbedded itself in the Department of Education, they have a national mouthpiece and financial backing to spew their socialist rhetoric. Afterall, its all about the kids.

Apropos Re-Quote from yesterday

May's quote of Henry Hazlitt's quote of putting words in Karl Marx's mouth: Hate the man who is better off than you are.

The flip-side of May's Quote:

Jesus said: ‎Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.' They also will answer, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?' He will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least among you, you did not do for me. -Matthew 25:41-45

Expressed a better way, perhaps

If Matthew 25:41-45 quoted above had been followed, then there would never be (or have been) what Henry Hazlitt says that "sums up" Karl Marx. Hazlitt apparently does not consider crimes and sins of the rich and powerful in his thesis. All the blame for anything is laid on the backs of the less fortunate.

Never under any circumstances admit that your own failure may be owing to your own weakness, or that the failure of anyone else may be due to his own defects - his laziness, incompetence, improvidence, or stupidity."

great comment largordo. most apropos for May and his

propaganda. 200k is middle class in his mind, but a look at any survey like wikipedia will tell people that only 2 1/2-3 % of the people start in that range. Any class on social science will also reveal that we are as Americans, on average, poor compared to some other countries, and trending downward. The pampered rich dont want the average guy to know whats really going on in this, the end result of wealth redistribution. Apparently he (May) must justify in his own mind the less than honest way he gets a lions share of his income; i.e., through insurance company dry-gulchers and the never mentioned farm subsidy teet the average, honest taxpayer pays every time they go to the store.

"Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts. But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a fraction of a penny. Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, "I tell you the truth, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything--all she had to live on." Mark 12:41-44

Largordo,

Thank you for affirming that the Left considers the taxation of the middle class and the “rich” to be punishment.

If people receive their income through dishonesty, we have a legal system with courts and prisons to deal with criminal activity. It is not the job of the IRS to apply punishment or to correct perceived injustices in society.

The Left believes that if someone is successful and makes a good income they must be exploiting others and committing covert criminal acts.

It does not occur to the Left that people can become successful, excel, and make a lot of money by hard work, long hours of labor, investing their money, risking their money, and sacrificing much.

The Left encourages laziness and the stealing of money from others.

The Liberals have turned the IRS into a welfare agency by not taxing half the population and giving many who do not work Earned Income Tax Credits.

The Left increasingly believes that stealing money with taxation is fair and equitable punishment for success. Since those on the Left have been brainwashed into hating work, success, and American Exceptionalism, they derive great pleasure from knowing that those who work hard and succeed will be severely punished. Such is the foundation of Marxism – demonize and hate the people who work hard and are successful as a result.
