White to miss at least six weeks (Runnin' with the Raiders blog)

Texas Tech freshman running back Quinton White will miss six to seven weeks after suffering a broken foot during Wednesday’s team scrimmage, coach Tommy Tuberville said Thursday.

“Hated to lose Quinton White,” Tuberville said. “It was non-contact. He just planted and broke the outside of his foot.”

White will have a pin surgically inserted into the injured foot today, the coach said.

“Right now we’re in pretty good shape at that position,” Tuberville said, “but that can change tomorrow.”

White was fifth on the depth chart at running back, so his absence shouldn’t cause problems for the Red Raiders if the running backs ahead of him can stay healthy.

Tuberville said Thursday that he has been particularly impressed with junior SaDale Foster, who scored Tech’s lone touchdown during the scrimmage Wednesday.

“He’s going to be hard to keep out,” Tuberville said. “The guy can see the field well, makes good cuts.”

ugh oh

As Tubs has said, we NEED that well grounded balanced attack in order to compete. It's a plan where just a few injuries will derail everything, and excuse anything.

He'll start the season as our starter. I'd bet they wont put Stephens in2 the fire so quickly
