Marquez out for the season with knee injury (Runnin' with the Raiders blog)

Texas Tech sophomore wide receiver Bradley Marquez will miss the rest of the season after suffering a major knee injury during the Red Raiders' 49-14 win against West Virginia on Saturday.

Marquez shared the news of his season coming to an end through his Twitter account Sunday evening.

"Officially done for the year," he tweeted. "Thanx to everyone for your thoughts and prayers! God has a plan and everything happens for a reason!!"

Marquez, who plays the flanker position for Tech, caught 16 passes for 172 yards this season.

After experiencing few injuries through the first five games, the Red Raiders suffered several setbacks on Saturday.

Tight end Jace Amaro, who caught five passes for 156 yards and a touchdown against West Virginia, indicated via Twitter on Sunday that he won't be able to play against TCU this weekend after taking a shot to the midsection late in the first half Saturday.

Flanker Javon Bell missed Saturday's game due to a foot injury he suffered in practice, and his status for Saturday's game is not immediately clear.

Inside receiver Alex Torres could be moved to the flanker position, if neccessary, offensive coordinator Neal Brown said Saturday.

Don't Discuss Injuries

99% of all coaches discuss injuries. And they allow their players to discuss injuries. But if we didn't discuss injuries, TCU would have spent a fair amount of time preparing for Amaro this weekend--time they would have wasted.

I just think the smarter play is to not discuss injuries--something that the media despises and counts as a mark against the coach.

@facts

it doesnt matter about who is discussing injuries. We have enough talent at receiver to over come a few injuries. Amaro would good to have but if he isnt then we still can win the game. The better team will win the game regardless of the injury report.

Jace

Facts, What if Jace plays, then what will TCU do? I'll guarantee TCU will be prepared regardless of the inujury report. A good coach does that. Good luck Jace. Get better soon!
