FORT WORTH -- Texas Tech sophomore tight end Jace Amaro will not play in today's game against TCU, a Tech spokesman confirmed.
Amaro was injured during last week's game against West Virginia when he was hit in the midsection by a member of the Mountaineer secondary.
Amaro returned in the second of that game and finished with five catches for a career-high 156 yards and one touchdown.
"We just want to get him 100 percent healthy," Tuberville said of Amaro earlier this week. "It's one of those things where he's a big time football player. As we all saw last week, he's hard to tackle. It's a lot easier to throw to a guy that's 6'6" than a guy that's 5'6". He's a little bigger target."
The 6-foot-5, 257-pound Amaro has 23 catches for 394 yards and four touchdowns this season.
Redshirt freshman Cameron Wright, who played his schoolboy ball at Cooper, should receive snaps in Amaro's absence.
