Texas Tech tight end Jace Amaro has not yet been cleared to play, according to athletic department spokesman Blayne Beal.
Amaro tweeted on Tuesday: "I'm finally cleared. Thank you for all the thoughts and prayers. It's time to get one more 'W.'"
But Beal reiterrated that Amaro had not been officially given the green light for contact yet. A time table for a decision on Amaro's status for Tech's upcoming bowl game is unclear.
Tech coach Tommy Tuberville on Monday said it was too early to speculate as to whether Amaro would be able to play in the bowl game, but added that he was hopeful the tight end could.
The 6-foot-5, 257-pound sophomore hasn't played since Oct. 13 against West Virginia, when he took a shot to the midsection late in the first half.
Amaro caught 23 passes for 394 yards and four touchdowns in six regular-season games.
