Texas Tech junior catcher Hunter Redman has agreed to terms with the Los Angeles Dodgers and will report this week to Arizona, site of the organization’s spring training facilities.
Redman is most likely be headed to the Rookie Pioneer League (Ogden Raptors) or the Class-A Midwest League (Great Lakes Loons).
The junior, who was the first catcher taken by the Dodgers in this year’s draft, made huge strides at the plate this season, hitting .328 during Big 12 play. Redman, who is known as an effective signal caller, was instrumental in the success of the Red Raider pitching staff that recorded a 3.11 ERA.
Redman joins his brother, Reid, who is currently the closer for the Miami Marlins’ Class-A Advanced Jupiter Hammerheads in the Florida State League where earlier this month he was named a FSL All-Star.
