ESPN.com: Welker backs off on comments about negotiations with Pats

PEABODY, Mass. -- Two days after telling the Boston Herald that his contract negotiations had "gotten worse," New England Patriots wide receiver Wes Welker backtracked on his comments.

"That was probably a bad choice of words, saying they've gotten worse," Welker said Saturday. "They've pretty much -- they've stayed the same. I'm franchised for the year and I'm completely happy with that."

I'm Not Happy

I'm not happy and neither is Wes. If the Pats wanted Wes for 3-5 years this is the year they would have signed the long term deal. I know 9.5 mil is a lot of money, but I fear it represents about 50% of what Wes will make during the remainder of his career.

I won't cry. But I think he was due 3 x $12 million. It's not all Brady.
