The dust never really settles in quasi-amateur football. It just sort of hovers until the next storm sends it flying all over the place again.
After a week that could best be described as insane, the dust cloud around the University of Cincinnati hovered over three men Saturday night: President (and apparently head cheerleader) Santa Ono, the incredibly steady-handed athletic director Whit Babcock and the new football coach, Tommy Tuberville, who promised to stay forever, or at least until the paint dries in his office.
The backdrop was a hastily scheduled pep rally/press conference, complete with the pep band, a decent assemblage of students, fans and boosters and an overhead video board that referred to Tuberville as Coach Tommy.
