Texas Tech football coach Kliff Kingsbury joined KCLE-AM 1460 in a phone interview to talk about all things football. During the chat which the station, which is based in Waco, Kingsbury discussed current Baylor Bears coach Art Briles, whom he played under at Texas Tech and now coaches against:

On Art Briles’ coaching style and what he learned from the Baylor head coach:

Kingsbury: “I’ve always had the utmost respect for coach Briles and really modeled the way I treat players and the way I coach after his style. He had a way of making you feel like you were 10-feet tall and bulletproof every time you stepped out onto the practice field and the game field and made you enjoy the game. He made sure you enjoyed the moment, and it doesn’t surprise me at all what he’s done there at Baylor and taking them to where they were to the top of the league. I think he tries to play the old, country, sly-like-a-fox-type role, but he’s the most competitive person you’ll ever be around.
