Texas Tech University’s Office of Admissions is hosting Red & Black Weekend for prospective students Oct. 13 through Oct. 15. The weekend, which coincides with the homecoming football game, culminates with University Day on Oct. 15.

Texas Tech University Activities Board presents Reed Timmer at 8 tonight in the Allen Theater, located in the Student Union building.
Timmer, lead storm chaser on Discovery Channel's "Storm Chasers" series and meteorologist, will talk to Texas Tech students about discoveries he has had throughout his storm-chasing career, according to a Tech news release.

The Texas Tech Federal Credit Union will sponsor competitive and recreational triathlon events for the Texas Tech and Lubbock communities, beginning at 7:30 a.m. Sunday at the Robert H. Ewalt Student Recreation Center.
The competitive race includes a 400-meter swim, 12-mile bike ride and a 2.5-mile run. The recreational race includes a 300-meter swim, 9-mile bike ride and a 2-mile run.

As New York Fashion Week commences this week, the Texas Tech University Apparel Design & Manufacturing faculty, students and alumni will host a fashion exhibition to showcase their work.
The exhibition will be on display at First Friday Art Trail, from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Louise Hopkins Underwood Center for the Arts, 511 Ave. K, according to a Texas Tech news release.

Interim Texas Tech University President Lawrence Schovanec will host the annual President's Welcome Picnic for Texas Tech students from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday.
Free hot dogs will be served by Texas Tech administrators.
Formerly dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, Schovanec was appointed as interim president Aug. 10 at the Texas Tech University System Board of Regents meeting in El Paso.
