Kelsi Baker, a 6-foot power forward at Horn High School in Mesquite, Texas, was named the Player of the Week by the Dallas Morning News on Monday.
Baker, who signed with Texas Tech last November, had a triple-double a week ago with 22 points, 16 rebounds and 10 assists. She followed that performance Friday with 12 points and 14 rebounds.
The triple-double was Baker’s second of the season.
“I feel like she’s going to come in and be an impact player for us,” said Tech coach Kristy Curry, who watched Baker’s game in person Friday. “It’s really exciting to go watch and see her get 14 or 15 boards. She’s just a player.”
Baker is ranked No. 71 on ESPN’s HoopGurlz Hundred.
