The Christian band Sidewalk Prophets will perform during a community prayer breakfast organized by the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce in keeping with the National Day of Prayer on May 2. The event, which will begin with a serving line at 7 a.m. followed by the program from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. at Lubbock Memorial Civic Center, is designed to bring the community together to pray for America, this year’s theme for the National Day of Prayer. Reunion planned by graduates of Lubbock's high schools 04/21/13 - 12:28am

Graduates from all of the high schools in Lubbock have been invited to attend a reunion from 6 to 10 p.m. on June 8 at Holiday Inn Park Plaza, 3201 South Loop 289. Although the reunion may be of particular interest for graduates of classes from 1955 to 1975, this year it has been opened to all classes, according to Sharon Luther, an organizer. “We have decided to open up the reunion for all the high school years — does not matter what year they attended,” she said. “If the young ones want to come and see how the old ones party, then they are most welcome.”

The American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women Symposium and Luncheon attracted an audience interested in learning how to deal with the potential of heart disease. When they sat down for lunch, they were asked to stand, put their palms together and laugh for certified laughter yoga leader Patty Freier.

Seeds of Hope fundraiser planned The Bridge of Lubbock has scheduled its Seeds of Hope Spring Fundraising Dinner for 6 p.m. today, April 18, at the Legacy Event Center, 1500 14th St. The Bridge’s catering service will provide dinner. A silent auction with proceeds benefiting Bridge 2 Success Summer Camp also has been scheduled. It is designed to provide 70 at-risk youth a free camp during the month of July.
