American Cotton Growers of Littlefield is one of five finalists for the 2011 Texas Workforce Solutions Employer of the Year award, the state workforce commission said Thursday.
The five were selected for their contributions to their communities through innovation and collaboration with the workforce system. Also among the finalists are Associated Hygienic Products of Waco; Minyard Food Stores of Dallas; NorthGate Constructors of Irving; and the Seton Healthcare Family of Austin. The winner will be announced at the Texas Workforce Commission’s annual conference in Houston Dec. 1.
According to the nomination, ACG used the state’s Texans Back to Work program to hire 32 people who had been collecting unemployment, and hired 25 ex-offenders through a Lubbock-based program to help convicted felons find work.
