A jury will determine the fate this week of a Lubbock man accused of sexually abusing a child.

Teddy Glynn Hickman, 42, is charged with indecency with a child by sexual contact, a second-degree felony.

Jury selection was held most of the day Monday, Feb. 10, in Lubbock County District Court. Trial testimony will begin after the 12 jurors are seated.

Hickman was arrested Oct. 26, 2011, in the 3500 block of N. Holly Avenue. He was later released on a $20,000 bond.

The offense is alleged to have occurred about 11 months before he was charged.

Hickman’s jail-booking records indicate he worked as a registered nurse for Covenant Medical Center at the time of his arrest.

He voluntarily surrendered his nursing license on July 9, 2012, according to the Texas Board of Nursing.

If the jury returns a guilty verdict, jurors could then opt to sentence him up to 20 years in prison.
