Mading pledges to Texas Tech

Posted: February 14, 2017 - 6:02pm

The Texas Tech men’s basketball team added a solid post Tuesday afternoon.

Daniel Mading, who took an official visit to Lubbock over the weekend, verbally committed to play for the Red Raiders.

The 6-foot-9, 175-pound power forward prospect from Gainseville (Fla.) Rock School, and three-star rated athlete by 247Sports, announced his decision on Twitter.

Prior to his pledge to Texas Tech, Mading originally verbally committed to Arizona State last December before opening up his process.

His, original, final list came down to: Arizona State, Florida, Kansas, LSU and UConn before picking the Sun Devils last December.

Mading joins Coronado’s Jarrett Culver (6-6 wing), South Plains College’s Josh Webster (6-3 guard) and Jordan Brangers (6-2 guard), Trinity Valley Community College’s Hyron Edwards (6-0 guard), DePaul transfer Tommy Hamilton IV (6-10 post) and Florida transfer Brandone Francis (6-4 guard) as part of the Class of 2017.

Hamilton IV and Francis are redshirting this season due to NCAA transfer rules.
