Lancaster’s Graves uses video to commit to Texas Tech

Lancaster’s John Graves verbally committed Wednesday to play for Texas Tech.

Graves, a 6-foot-1, 282-pound defensive tackle, announced his decision by posting a two-minute video on Twitter.

“The dawn of a new era….listen to my story,” Graves Tweeted in addition to his video.

Graves held four total offers, including Memphis, New Mexico State and UT-San Antonio. He is the second high school athlete, along with Grapevine quarterback Alan Bowman, to commit to Texas Tech on Wednesday.

In total, the Red Raiders have pledges from seven athletes: Denton Ryan wide receiver, Gabriel Douglas, Butler Community College wide receiver Myron Mitchell, Mesquite Poteet safety Mekhi Gardner, Richmond Foster defensive end Cameron Valentine, Lake Highlands athlete Corey Fulcher, Graves and Bowman.

Prior to his senior season, Graves played at Blue Springs High School in Missouri.
