The Texas Tech softball team inked its second transfer from the state of Louisiana on Wednesday.

Taylor Satchell, who transferred out from LSU, signed an Athletic Scholarship Agreement to play with the Red Raiders.

“I am fired up that Taylor will join our squad this upcoming season,” Texas Tech head softball coach Adrian Gregory said via a press release. “She is extremely versatile and has experience in multiple positions in a very competitive atmosphere. We are looking for her to make a direct impact in the dirt for us this year!”

Satchell, a versatile athlete, made 11 combined starts during her freshman and sophomore seasons for the Tigers. While playing third base and designated player, she hit .556 with a .778 slugging percentage and a .600 on-base percentage in 2016.

Behind the plate, Satchell recorded 32 putouts and notched a 1.000 fielding percentage as LSU’s primary reserve catcher in 2017.

Satchell, who hails from Rayne, La.. played all four years at Notre Dame High School in Crowley, La. She led her team to back-to-back district titles in starting in 2012 and including helped jump start a run to the state title game in 2013.

Thanks to her on the field efforts in high school, Satchell was named first team all-district and all-parish for four years and named a first team All-Acadiana and all-state selection in her junior and senior campaigns.

Satchell joins Heaven Burton, formerly of the University of Louisiana, as the second transfer from the state of Louisiana added to the Red Raider softball team this summer.

She is the eighth addition to the Texas Tech softball team, which is also bringing in six high school signees for 2017-18.
