Ben "Demp" Foster

Church services for Ben "Demp" Foster, Jr., 82, of Lazbuddie is scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, Sep. 19, 2010 at Lazbuddie Church of Christ with Clay Mimms officiating. Burial will be in Lazbuddie Cemetery under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home, Muleshoe. Mr. Foster died Thursday, Sep. 16, 2010 in Lubbock. He was born Sep. 16, 1928 to Benjamin Isaac and Ada (Brock) Foster, Sr. in Newcastle, Texas. He married Anita Steinbock in Muleshoe on June 10, 1948.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, William "Tun" Foster; and one sister, Nina Heard.

Mr. Foster had lived in the Lazbuddie area since 1944, having moved from Newcastle, Texas. He was a member of Lazbuddie Church of Christ. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and was a charter member of Lubbock Scottish Rite. Demp was a past member of the Lazbuddie School Board and served on Muleshoe Area Hospital Dist. Board. He had been a farmer and rancher and owned and operated Foster Fertilizer, Inc. from 1961 to 2010.

He is survived by his wife, Anita of the home; three sons, Tim Foster and wife Debbie of Lubbock, Steve Foster and wife Paulette of Lazbuddie and Mark Foster and fiancée Deborah of Atchison, Kan.; one brother, James “Shan” Foster of Prairie Grove, Ark.; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
