Posted: September 15, 2011 - 12:47am

J. B. Dean, 89, passed away Tuesday September 13, 2011 in Crosbyton, Texas. He was born on March 10, 1922 in Paducah, Texas to Conrad and Myrtle Latamer Dean. He later married Jean Meador on April 25, 1942 in Spur, Texas.

J.B. Dean served twice in the U.S. Army. One tour was during WWII and then again during the Korea War. He was a tractor mechanic and volunteer fireman. J.B. was one of the founding members of the Spur VFW (Veterans of Foreign War) and serve in all offices as well as president of the VFW.

Daddy loved his family and his eyes would just lite up when his grandkids walked in.  He was the ultimate Patriot and he loved his country and the U.S. Flag.  He loved his God and felt he survived WWII and Korea by holding on to his beliefs and the bible he carried with him.  But most of all - he loved Momma, his darling wife of 69 years.  Their love has been an inspiration to all who knew them.  We are blessed to have had him in our lives and the world is a better place because of him.  Grandpa, we love and miss you.

A special thanks to the caring staff at the Crosbyton Nursing & Rehab and Vista Care Hospice. A special thanks also to our Christian friend David Blackburn.

J.B. is survived by his wife, Jean of Spur, Texas; one daughter, Teresa Mobbs and husband Larry of Odessa, Texas; one sister, Lelia Faircloth of Cleveland, Texas; one brother, Eugene Dean of Pasadena, Texas. He is also survived by five grandchildren Dana Young and husband Clay of Spur, Texas, Rick Kyle and wife Codi of Clarksville, Tenn.; Deana Troxtell of Spur, Texas, Toby Kyle and wife Veronica of N. Las Vegas and Terri Karr of Ft. Worth, Texas; as well as six great-grandchildren, Shane Rayvon and Haley, Chelsey Dillashaw, Raymond and Kaylynn Young, Brandon Kyle, Kaitlyn Kyle and Sidney Karr; and four great-great grandchildren.
