Services for Mary Gowin Trostle, 80, of Lubbock will be at 2 p.m. Friday, October 21, 2011 in Sanders Memorial Chapel with Dr. Weldon McCormick and Chaplain Kate Hutson officiating. Interment will follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Sanders Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Sanders Funeral Home.
Mary passed away at home on October 18, 2011.
Mary was born on April 7, 1931 in Lubbock, Texas to Henry Lewis and Hester Lee Gowin. She was raised in Lubbock; graduated from Lubbock High School and attended Texas Tech. She was a longtime employee of Southwestern Bell Telephone. Mary was a member of the Church of Christ.
After retiring, Mary was a Hostess for the Lubbock Club and was very involved with the Alumni of Lubbock High School's Class of 1948, planning events and reunions.
Loved ones include her daughter, Quinn Steele Walters and Donald Beyer of Lubbock; granddaughter, Mary Christine Nuckols and husband, Trevor of Lubbock; sister, Lela "Mac" Buster of Levelland; nieces, Tina O'Connor of Levelland and Xan Warren of Beggs, Okla.
Mary was preceded in death by daughter, Sandy Steele and infant twins, Susan and Sheldon Steele.

Mary was a great friend, sister, mother and grandmother and her love was shared with all, especially her family.
