Tech gets a pair of one-out hits from Chris Hall and Joey Kenworthy, but they were left stranded.
A&M took advantage of an error by AJ to cut the lead in the bottom of the first. Dane Carter led off with a single to left. Ramost rallied with strikeouts of Blake Stouffer and Jose Duran, but an errant pickoff attempt and the roomy foul territory at Olsen Field allosed Carter to go all the way to third. After a walk to Luke Anders, Darby Brown, the Cooper product, singled on the field to score Carter and make it 2-1.
Brown, however, was picked off first on a wild pitch that was blocked by Monk Kreder, ending the inning.
