G/F, 6-2, Sr., Estacado
There were times during the season when Willard was arguably just as valuable for the Matadors as Wagner with his ability to take over the game both in the paint and from the 3-point arc. In leading Estacado to the district title he averaged 15.0 points per game and hit 70 of 174 from 3-point range.
G, 5-9, Jr., Trinity Christian
A near-unstoppable force for the Lions, Wentz was the motor that drove Trinity Christian to a second-place finish in TAPPS District 1-4A play behind eventual state champion Arlington Grace Prep. Wentz averaged 22.8 points per game, hit 42.1 percent from 3-point range and was 87.4 percent from the free throw line.
G, 6-1, Sr., Monterey
Whenever the Plainsmen needed a big basket or needed to spark a run, Davis was usually the guy head coach David Chapman turned to, and he came through in the clutch more often than not. He led Monterey to its first playoff appearance in three years by averaging 15.2 points and 5.8 rebounds per game.
G, 6-0, Soph., Coronado
O’Neal was a key piece Dean rebuilt his team around and helped lead the Mustangs to a second-place finish in the league and a third-round appearance in the postseason. He averaged 5.7 points per game in being named the 2-5A Newcomer of the Year.
F, 6-3, Soph., Frenship
The highly touted newcomer to the South Plains took a few games to get his feet wet but was solid for the majority of the season in leading the Tigers to a second-place finish in the 10-team District 3-4A. He averaged 15.5 points per game for Frenship.
G, 6-1, Sr., Cooper
With District 2-3A being a race for second place this season, it was unsure who would emerge. Thanks to a solid second half of the season and the play of Rolen, it was the Pirates who took that spot. Rolen averaged 9.1 points and 5.7 rebounds per game for the regular season.
