Fisher broke record in high jump, is qualified for state in three events
After winning the Class 1A state championship in the high jump last May, Dayton Fisher hung a list of goals on his wall for this season.
Among them: Clear 7 feet.
It took a while, but he achieved it with room to spare.
The Sudan senior went 7-1 on Saturday in Levelland, breaking a 38-year-old Region I-1A meet record of 6-9.
“It was awesome,” he said. “The crowd really helped me out a little bit. I was jumping fine, but whenever they started to clap and stuff, that gave me a lot more adrenaline and helped me get over the bar.”
