The high winds and dust that swept through Lubbock Tuesday afternoon forced postponements of some area athletic events.

The Coronado baseball team’s District 2-5A showdown against Midland was pushed back to Wednesday with a 5 p.m. first pitch. Frenship and San Angelo Lake View pushed the start of their 4-4A series opener to 6 p.m.

In area softball action, the District 2-3A openers between Levelland and Estacado and Seminole and Shallowater were also postponed. Levelland and Estacado will now meet on Wednesday at Matador Field at 5 p.m. while Seminole and Shallowater will face off on Thursday in Seminole.

Also, Coronado softball postponed its game against Midland Lee to Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.

The wind also forced Texas Tech baseball to push back the first pitch of its midweek series opener against Stephen F. Austin Tuesday night from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
